Club Open Day
Open Day Sunday 12 September officially begins at 10 am. We ask
members to come down around 9 a.m. so that we can set up a good display,
ready the new boats for the naming ceremony etc.
We will have a couple of boats available to take current and newcomers
out for a paddle, so you can see we need plenty of help.
After the boat naming ceremony and Lion Dance Troupe we will be providing
lunch.
We ask you to spread the word about this day to family, friends etc. and
get them to come along to kick off the 30th Anniversary Season in fine style.
2011 Touring Targets
We intend to send a junior team to Canberra in March for the Australian Championships.
It has been suggested that maybe the parents of Juniors and others who cannot make the
overseas tour could form a Masters Team to compete in Canberra. Definitely worth thinking
about. Let us have your views/intentions.
The overseas tour has been voted on and approved as being Taiwan with a stopover in
Hong Kong on the return leg of the journey. The Club, as a token of faith with the
Hosts must field a competitive team/s. To this end the Club advises that all members, present
and past are welcome to nominate for the team.
The Committee has set a proviso that those wishing to tour to Taiwan must commit themselves
to the Club’s entire season of competition. People cannot just front up, do some
token training before departure and expect to be a touring member. That is to say, that
people without this commitment will not be considered to join the touring party. Spread
the word among any past members that you know BUT stress the Commitment Bit! Deb
Alder, along with Les Marrable and Shirley (Spot) Wills are the people to contact. Let us all
“get out there” and start recruiting.
